Another New Year

New Years Devo 2020 NP Graphic

Can you believe that it is 2020? What a cool sounding year. For many a new year means resolutions (some new, some old), new commitments and new opportunities. For many of you it is conversations about weight loss, eating healthy, more exercise, or maybe quitting something. While these things are great and admirable and worth the pursuit, keep in mind that there may be something you are overlooking that could be even more life changing.

The apostle Paul writes, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14)

Paul always lived his life in the context of God, realizing that everything that came into his life was an opportunity for God to work in him and through him. He desired to grow in his faith while overcoming obstacles that could potentially wreck most people’s faith. He is a perfect example of a mind-set we need to have throughout and beyond 2020.

It is my prayer that you will not only better yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, and relationally but also spiritually making the above verses your new pursuit. Think about it, if we who make up Pleasant City Church would pursue God the way Paul did, we could radically impact Cleveland County and who knows the world for His Glory. Lets start 2020 by Loving God, Connecting w/Others and Reaching the World.

Lastly, I would like to encourage you to go to our church’s website and review Our Vision, Our Beliefs, and Our Culture as we begin this new year together unified and focused to pursue all God desires us to accomplish.
