Daddy / Daughter Date Night
Few things in life compare to the moment when a father first holds his baby girl in his arms. I can remember when Kensley was born I went out to tell my family in the waiting room it was a GIRL and that she was healthy and then having a good cry. She was so tiny and so delicate and as she looked up into my eyes, my heart melted. I can remember thinking that this little princess will have me wrapped around her finger for the rest of my life.
As this beautiful baby girl has grown into her teenage years, her world has opened to all kinds of new experiences, emotions and relationships. Shared family memories have been wonderful and she will treasure them for a long time. As my daughter is growing older I have realized that I need to do more things to enjoy our time together. The idea is simple, making memories and cementing a lifetime connection with my daughter. Treating her with respect and handling any mishaps with grace and a smile… entering her world and enjoying our time together.
Through the years Kensley and I have gone to many Father / Daughter Dances at the local YMCA. It was my way of devoting a special time, just the two of us, to go out and do something fun together. This event was a way for me to speak to her heart in a way that words could not always express. I will always cherish those times together.
Thinking back at those times I wanted to create that opportunity for Dads and their Daughters here at the church. So on Saturday, February 23 from 5:30 – 8pm the Clubhouse Children’s ministry is going to create an atmosphere for a Daddy / Daughter Date night where Dad’s can bring their Daughter (s) to eat a good meal and have some fun together in the clubhouse as we do the chicken dance, limbo and Cha Cha slide. This event is FREE and open to kids that are 3 years old to 5th Grade. This event is open to the community, so tell your best friend or neighbor and come enjoy a FUN evening!
