DAY 11: 12/22
DAY 11: FAMILY DEVOTIONAL // Lead a devotional with your family. If you are single, call a family member and talk to them over the phone and pray with them
READ OR HAVE SOMEONE READ: Luke 2:1-7
Mary and Joseph had to travel just under 80 miles to reach Bethlehem with Mary soon ready to give birth to baby Jesus. Can you imagine how difficult that journey must have been? But it was necessary to fulfill prophecy from the Old Testament. Why then was it important for Jesus to be born in Bethlehem? Also talk about how Jesus was born in a barn and after His birth He was put into a feeding trough (a manger). Do you think someone in the inn would have given up their room if they had known who was born in the barn? Would you have given up your room?
READ OR HAVE SOMEONE READ: Luke 2:8-20
The shepherds were able to see the celebration the angels had at the birth of Jesus. Can you imagine what that must have been like? The angels not only celebrated; one angel told the shepherds where to find Who they were celebrating. According to verse 16, what did they next? Then notice what they did in verse 17-18. How would you have reacted if you saw what they saw?
Our Response to this story should be as the shepherds—they praised God and told everyone and also as Mary—her heart was touched by Jesus. Will you tell others about this story? Will you allow it to touch your heart?
