Connect Group time is here! I want to encourage our Pleasant City family to see the value in Connect Ministry. On January 27th we will launch some new groups and also encourage people to join our existing Connect Groups. I love this quote that someone from the Lifeway ministry shared, “People in a group read the Bible more, pray more, confess sin and repent more actively, share the Gospel more regularly than those not in a group.”
Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
The phrase “spur one another on toward love and good deeds” is a big part of our Connect Ministry. When we do life together, we push one another toward Christlikeness. Think of spurring on this way:
S – Say it thoughtfully
P – Point them to Jesus
U – Understand who they are and walk with them
R – Relationally invest in connection
When we biblically spur one another on, it will make us better people and better connected to one another.
Hebrews 2:1 NIV “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”
The phrase “not drift away” can be prevented when one is in a healthy Connect Ministry. It is great to come together in a worship gathering and hear a message from the Bible and even take notes, but we must really pay attention to what we have heard so that we will not drift away. Connect Groups can help us not drift. We never wake up and say, “I’m going to drift closer to Jesus today.” We drift away from Jesus unless we intentionally get anchored in healthy Connect Groups that encourage us in God’s truth.
Take advantage to get to know others, to care, to share, to challenge and support, to confide and confess, to forgive and be forgiven, to laugh and weep together, to be accountable to each other, and grow together. Join a Connect Group today!
