A New Day
A new year brings different things for different people. Some will make resolutions to change things about themselves that they don’t like, some will vow not to make resolutions because they never keep up with them anyway, and to others it is simply the next day on the calendar as they move through life. Maybe 2018 was a tough year for you, you lost loved ones, changed jobs, or things just didn’t go the way you hoped. Maybe 2018 was a great year for you and that job change was what you wanted, maybe you added to your family, or accomplished the goals that you set for yourself last January. No matter what your view of this past year is and no matter how you view a new year coming, one thing is common in all views, today is NEW!
The Message paraphrase of the Bible often offers a different perspective on scripture and I love the way it puts Lamentations 3:22-24:
God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left.
So no matter how you view the new year, you can start every day knowing that God’s mercy and love are new every morning! If you start your day with that in your heart and mind 2019 will be a great year! We, as a staff, are praying for you and the rest of our church family as the new year begins and we continue to love God, connect with others, and reach the world!
