Introduction:  Godly wives have great potential to motivate their husbands to become all that God desires them to be. 1 Peter 3:1 reads, “Wives…be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some (husbands) do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives.”

I Wish My Wife Knew That I Need Her To…

 Respect Me (Ephesians 5:33)

  • My Judgment 
  • My Abilities

 Encourage Me (Proverbs 31:10-12)

  • When I Feel Inadequate 
  • When I Feel Insecure

 Forgive Me (Matthew 18:21-22)

  • When I Fall Short of What I Should Be
  • When I Fall Short of What You Want Me to Be

 Evaluate Her Expectations of Me (Proverbs 21:9; Proverbs 27:15)

  • Her Dream verses Reality
  • My Desire verses Reality

 Enhance our Love Life (1 Corinthians 7:2-6)

  • No Flannel Night Gowns—appearance is important
  • More Intimacy
  • Make it a Priority

    Footnote: A wife’s desire for her husband profoundly affects his sense of                      wellbeing and confidence in all areas of his life.

 Make Me a Priority (1 Corinthians 7:10)

   The List:

  • God
  • Spouse
  • Children

Application: The turning point in any marriage begins with a proper perspective.

 

 

Modern Cultural Perspective for Wives:

  1. I am in control of my own life
  1. Marriage is a 50-50 proposition
  1. I should treat my husband like he treats me
  1. My feelings are my guide
  1. My husband needs to earn my respect
  1. I should make my husband pay for my forgiveness
  1. There is no such thing as a happy marriage
  1. My husband’s job is to make me happy

 

Biblical Perspective for Wives:

  1. Doing things God’s way is the key to having a joyful life
  1. I am 100% responsible to God for my behavior as a wife
  1. I will love my husband unconditionally
  1. Respecting my husband brings glory to God
  1. Forgiveness is a choice, not a feeling
  1. A source of power is available to me through Christ
  1. My joy is not determined by others
