The Victory

April 1, 2018 Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: Death Arrested

Introduction: Easter is the celebration of Jesus’ victory over death by way of His resurrection. It is by far the greatest news of all time. It guarantees the salvation of those who are believers but also guarantees the condemnation of those who are non-believers.

The Proofs of Jesus’ Resurrection:

  • The Verbal Account (Matthew 28:1-10)
  • The Visual Account (1 Corinthians 15:1-7)
  • The Victorious Account (1 Corinthians 15:12-24)

What Does Jesus’ Resurrection Mean?

  • He is Who He claimed to be (John 11:25) (John 14:6)
  • He has the power He claimed to have (John 10:18)
  • He does what He promised to do (Mark 10:34)

Why Does Jesus’ Resurrection Matter?

  • Your past can be erased (Philippians 3:7-9) (Colossians 2:13-15) (Romans 8:1)
  • Your present can be handled (Philippians 3:10-12)
  • Your future can be secured (Philippians 3:13-14, Philippians 20-21)

How Does Jesus’ Resurrection Not Matter?

(Ephesians 2:9)

  • Attempting Salvation by Sincerity
  • Attempting Salvation by Service
  • Attempting Salvation by Subtraction
  • Attempting Salvation by Ritual
  • Attempting Salvation by Heritage
  • Attempting Salvation by Comparison

How Does Jesus’ Resurrection Matter?

  • Accepting Salvation by Your Repentance (Acts 3:19)
  • Accepting Salvation by God’s Provision (1 Peter 1:3-5)

Application: The Resurrection of Jesus takes care of our greatest needs: our sin problem, our guilt and shame problem, and our fear problem.

What is keeping you from identifying with and accepting the victory of Christ’s Resurrection?
