The King’s Plan: A King, His Son, and a Banquet (Matthew 22:1-2)

         God- the Father, Jesus, and the Kingdom of Heaven

The King’s Invitation to Come

     1^st Invitation (Matthew 22:3)

           Sent Servants: Prophets

           Invited Guests: People of Israel

           RSVP: Refusal

           Result: A Second Chance

     2^nd Invitation (Matthew 22:4-7)

           Sent Servants: John-Baptist/Jesus

           Invited Guests: People of Israel

           RSVP: Apathy & Brutality

           Result: Destruction & Displacement

The King’s Proclamation to Go - “…so Go…” (Matthew 22:9, 28:19)

     3^rd Invitation (Matthew 22:8-10)

           Sent Servants: Us- His Church

           Invited Guests: Anyone, Everywhere

           RSVP: Come & Gather

           Result: A Full House and a Fulfilled Kingdom

Application: We the Church, are the sent servants called to Go Everywhere and Invite Anyone to Come to the Kingdom.

The King’s Epilogue- Easy Come, Easy Go

     An Invited Intruder (Matthew 22:11-14)

           This man desired the Benefits of the Banquet, but rejected the Covering of the King.

           Result: An Outsider in the Darkness

Application: Invitation only is not what makes you a part of the Kingdom. Are you clothed in the King’s Righteousness?
