Introduction: As Christian’s, we are called to be in a radical relationship with Christ, not just in a regular religion. This difference should be externally clear, in the way we love and lead others into the light.
Law Vs. Love (Matt. 23:23-24)
- Man's Law - Our attempt at self-reliance (2 Corinthians 3:5-6; Genesis 11:1-9)
- God's Law - His example of God-reliance (Ephesians 2:8; 2 Corinthians 12:9)
- God’s Love (Psalms 91:14; John 4:16)
- Man’s law is insufficient; God’s law is all-sufficient
External Vs. Internal (Matthew 23:25-26)
-
Putting on a “Christian Mask”
-
Cleaning the inside of the cup
-
Being secretly incredible
Lukewarm Vs. The Obsessed (Matthew 23:27-28)
- People who are obsessed with Jesus live their life in a radical way. While those are lukewarm live their life in a regular way.
- Radical=Relationship (Luke 14:25-33)
- Regular= Religion
Dark Vs. Light (Matthew 23:29-32)
- Darkness conceals sin Vs. Light corrects sin (John 3:20; Ephesians 5:8-11)
- Darkness confuses Vs. Light counsels steps (1 John 2:11; Psalms 119:105)
- Bottom Line: Dark Vs. Light. Which is your present reality? (1 John 1:5-7)
