What If? - Part 3

October 28, 2018 Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: What if?

Introduction: What if you joined our church family in fulfilling the endless opportunities and potential that our God-sized vision brings?

4 Levels of Becoming Part of the Family:

    Level 1:  Membership—Choosing to Belong  (Acts 2:40-41)

    Level 2:  Partnership—Doing My Part  (Acts 2:42-43)

    Level 3:  Friendship—Learning to Share  (Acts 2:44-45)

Level 4:  Kinship—Loving Believers as Family  (Acts 2:46-47)

5 Things That Unite Us As A Church Family:

    1.  Our Salvation  (What brings and holds us together)

    2.  Our Story  (How the Lord brought us together)  (1949) (1999)

At the 50th Anniversary Celebration in 1999:

               Remember The Sacrifice Behind Us

               Resist The Complacency Among Us,

               Release The Fears Within Us

Respond To The Vision Before Us

    3.  Our Statements  (What we believe)

    4.  Our Strategy  (How we fulfill our purpose)

             The Great Commandment:  (Matthew 22:36-40)

             The Great Commission:  (Matthew 28:19-20)

             Love God

             Connect With Others

             Reach The World

    5.  Our Structure  (Where we fulfill our purpose) (Romans 14:19) (1 Peter 3:8) (Romans 12:4-6)

Application: The difference between “attenders” and “members” can be summed up in one word—commitment. We never ask our members to do more than the Bible clearly teaches. These responsibilities are clearly spelled out in the below Membership Covenant.

Membership Covenant

1.  I Will Protect The Unity Of My Church
acting in love toward other members  (1 Peter 1:22)
 refusing to gossip  (Ephesians 4:29)
following the church leadership  (Hebrews 13:17)

2.  I Will Share The Responsibility Of My Church
praying for it's spiritual growth  (1 Thessalonians 1:2)

…by inviting the unchurched to attend  (Luke 14:23)
warmly welcoming those who visit  (Romans 15:7)

3.  I Will Serve The Ministry Of My Church

discovering my gifts and talents  (1 Peter 4:10)
being equipped to serve  (Ephesians 4:11-12)
 developing a servant’s heart  (Philippians 2:3-4)

4.  I Will Support The Testimony Of My Church
 attending faithfully  (Hebrews 10:25)
living a godly life  (Philippians 1:27)
 giving obediently & generously  (1 Corinthians 16:2) (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Name:                                                                   Date:

Conclusion: God desires that His children belong to a local Biblically-Oriented Church. We accept members who have trusted Jesus as their Savior and Lord by: believing who He said He is, repenting of their sins, and coming by faith into a relationship with Him.
