When Building A Spiritual Rusume
Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: Flourish Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 1:8–10
Definition of Flourish: to be healthy and thriving; to blossom; to be at the height of influence
Introduction: When you become a follower of Jesus Christ, it becomes obvious to those around you. (I Thessalonians 1:8-9a) This means that from the moment you are saved you begin to build a testimony; which then becomes your spiritual resume.
Definition of Testimony: supporting evidence; proof
Conclusions Concerning Your Testimony:
- It is the means to how others view you (Proverbs 22:1)
- It is the guide to how others respond to you
- It can either render you powerful or powerless
- It is the only thing that truly survives you
Your Testimony Is Built By:
- How you handle your problems
- What you do with your potential
- What you set as priorities
A Spiritual Resume Is A Testimony Of Someone:
Who Is Converted In the Past (I Thessalonians 1:9b)
--turns to God from sin (idols) - (Philippians 1:6) (Jeremiah 29:11) (Acts 26:18)
Who Is Captivated In The Present (I Thessalonians 1:9c)
--from serving sin to serving God (Colossians 3:23-24)
Who Is Committed To The Future (I Thessalonians 1:10)
--to Jesus from wrath
Application: What is in your spiritual resume? Does it contain evidence or proof that you are a follower of Christ? Do others see this proof or evidence?
