Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
“Flourish” may be one of the best words to describe a Christian who is maturing in their faith.
Definition of Flourish: to be healthy and thriving; to blossom; to be at the height of influence
Five Tremendous Truths that Paul lays our for us”
Revelation: We have God’s Word (I Thessalonians 4:13,15a)
- We have the great opportunity to look to Jesus and His Words for complete revelation and comfort concerning death (2 Timothy 1:10; John 14:1-3)
- We don’t need to fear death or the future because Jesus conquered death (I Corinthians 15:57-58)
Return: Christ is Coming Again (I Thessalonians 4:14-15)
- “Imminent return of Christ” Christ could come at any moment (1 Corinthians 15:52)
- Whether we live or die, as believers in Christ, we have nothing to fear because Jesus will come, either with us or for us.
Resurrection: Christians Who are Dead Will Rise (Vs. 15-16)
- Believers will receive glorified bodies. The grave is not the end (Philippians 3:20-21)
- When Christ returns in the air, He calls only those who are saved through faith in Him
Rapture: Living Believers will be Caught Up (I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
- Rapture is a Latin term. It means to be caught up, to seize, to carry off
- Christ will return for His own
Reminder: Believers Encourage Each Other (I Thessalonians 4:18)
- A reunion is coming. We will be caught up with all the saints who have gone before
- In heaven we will have:
No Tears (Revelation 21:4) No Fears (Revelation 21:3)
No Loneliness (Revelation 21:25) No Aging (Revelation 21:5)
Application: Jesus was victorious over death. He is coming again. We can comfort each other and flourish for Christ.
