James 4:1-6

Introduction: Pleasure in and of it self is not wrong, bad or evil; God Himself created it. However the enemy, as in everything else, seeks to take the normal desire for pleasure and make it corrupt. When pleasure becomes the ultimate pursuit of a person’s life, they lose sight of God’s plan and purpose for their life. (Psalms 16:11)

The Passion for Pleasure Leads To

Disruptive Problems (James 4:1)
Destructive Passions (James 4:2a) (Ecclesiastes 2:1-11) (John 4:13-14)
Defective Prayers
Unoffered Prayer (James 4:2b)
Unworthy Prayer (James 4:3)

The Love of the World Leads To

A Heart Problem (James 4:4a)
A Will Problem (James 4:4b)
A Spirit Problem (James 4:5)
A Pride Problem (James 4:6)

Application: The foolish person lives their life seeking only those things that bring pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)
