“Be Patient, He Is On His Way”
James 5:7-12

Introduction: In Scripture, Jesus’ return is described with three words: His Revelation (unveiling), His Appearing, and His Coming. 

The Bible teaches that as the return of Jesus draws near that those days will be characterized as days of difficulty, deception and defiance.

Followers of Jesus and Churches will be tempted and pressured to follow the ways of the world. However James encourages us to be patient, stand firm and endure. 
(2 Timothy 3:1) (Titus 2:13)

The Lord is Coming Look Upward!!!

• The Dearness of His Coming (James 5:7) (1 John 3:2)

• The Nearness of His Coming (James 5:8c, James 5:9c)

The Lord is Coming Look Inward!!!

• Am I Longsuffering in my Journey? (James 5:8a)

          4 Don’ts During the Difficulty:
                 Don’t focus on the situation or you will be filled with anger and resentment
                 Don’t focus on yourself or you will be filled with self-pity
                 Don’t focus on someone to blame or you will begin to complain
                 Don’t focus on the inconveniences of the present or you will miss the point of what God is desiring to achieve in you
                 (Romans 5:1-5)

• Am I Strong in my Heart? (James 5:8b)

• Am I Sweet in my Disposition? (James 5:9a,b)

• Am I Sincere in my Words? (James 5:12)

The Lord is Coming Look Onward!!!

James Uses 3 Illustrations To Express This Point:

• Farmers--they claimed the Promises of God (James 5:7c,d) (Genesis 8:22)

• Prophets--they claimed the Power of God (James 5:10)

• Job--he claimed the Purposes of God (James 5:11)  (Galatians 6:9)

Application: You can either be overwhelmed by the times or you can overcome the times. Are you looking for the Coming of Christ?
