“And Finally…Pray”
James 5:13-20

Introduction: James closes his letter, written to followers of Jesus, with specific instruction on how they can serve and minister to one another through prayer.

The Prayer Of The Righteous (Faithful)

• Prays for the Emotionally Sick (James 5:13)
• Prays for the Physically Sick (James 5:14-15a)
• Prays for the Spiritually Sick (James 5:15b-16)

The Prayer Of The Resolute

• Prays Passionately (James 5:17a)
• Prays Purposely (James 15:17b, James 15:18b)
• Prays Persistantly (James 15:18a)

The Prayer Of The Restorer

• Prays for the Believer’s Return to Truth (James 5:19)
• Prays for the Believer’s Restoration from Tragedy (James 5:20)

Application: Prayer is the most powerful yet most neglected gift God has given. It not only cultivates your relationship with Him, it also allows you to cultivate your relationships with others as you pray for their needs.

Do you minister to others through prayer? Can others count on you to pray for them?

Conclusion: James’ letter does not just demonstrate how faith works; it serves as an effective tool to help you determine if there is proof that you have true faith in Jesus and live His truth. What has this study revealed about your faith?
