“The Battle Against The Enemy”
Ephesians 6:10-12; Other Selected Passages

Introduction: Someone has said, “The Christian Life is not a playground but a battleground.” We as “Followers of Jesus” are under attack on three fronts—the adversary, the world, and our flesh—and we need to be aware and alert. To be successful in this battle for our soul we must analyze our enemy, utilize our weaponry, and realize our victory.

The Names & Character of the Enemy

• Satan—the adversary (most common name)
• Devil—the slanderer
• Lucifer—the shining one (Isaiah 14:12)
• The God of this Age (2 Corinthians 4:4)
• The Dragon (Revelation 12:7)
• The Deceiver (Revelation 20:10)
• The Destroyer (Revelation 9:11)
• Beelzebub—the Prince of Demons (Matthew 12:24)
• The Tempter (1 Thessalonians 3:5)
• The Accuser (Revelation 12:10)
• The Angel of Light (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)
• A Roaring Lion (1 Peter 5:8)

The Personality of the Enemy

• His Intellect (Matthew 4:1-11)
• His Emotions (Revelation 12:12)
• His Will (2 Timothy 2:24-26)

The Limitations of the Enemy

• He Is Not Everywhere At All Times (Job 1:7)
• He Is Not All-knowing (Job 1:6-12)
• He Is Not All-powerful (Revelation 12:7)
• He Is Accountable (Matthew 25:41)

• One-Third of the Angels Fell Became Demons

   Three Categories of Demons:

• Those free to roam now
• Those who will be freed during the tribulation period
• Those who will never be free to roam

The Personality of Demons

• They Have the Same Characteristics as Angels
  
     Intellect—they knew who Jesus was (Mark 1:23-24)
     Emotions--fear & trembling (James 2:19)
     Will--they chose to follow Satan (Revelations 12)

• They Have Names and Can Communicate (Luke 8:30-31)

The Activities of Demons

• They Promote Disunity (James 3:14-16)
• They Spread False Doctrine (1Timothy 4:1)
• They Hinder Spiritual Growth (Ephesians 6:11b)
• They Hinder the Prayers of the Saints (Daniel 10) 
• They Can Possess (Matthew 4:24)
• They Can Oppress (Acts 10:38)
• They Blind the Minds of the Unsaved (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

A 5-week class for kids 1^st - 5^th grade who have made a profession of faith.  We recommend your child complete this class before baptism.  Parents are asked to attend the first class with their child.
