“The Battle Against The Flesh”
Galatians 5:16-25; Romans 7:14-25

Introduction: Someone has said, “The Christian Life is not a playground but a battleground.” We as “Followers of Jesus” are under attack on three fronts—the enemy, the world, and our flesh—and we need to be aware and alert. To be successful in this battle for our soul we must analyze our enemy, utilize our weaponry, and realize our victory.

The Inner Contenders  (Galatians 5)

• The Flesh (Galatians 5:16-21)
• The Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25)

The Inner Struggles  (Romans 7)

• The Condition (Romans 7:14)     

        At The Fall In Genesis 3:

        The flesh became self-centered
        The body developed unhealthy appetites
        The heart became filled with pride
        The will became rebellious
        The mind became perverted and deceived
        The conscience was dulled
        The innocence was lost

• The Confusion (Romans 7:15)
• The Frustration (Romans 7:16-20)
• The Confrontation (Romans 7:21-23)
• The Exhaustion (Romans 7:24)
• The Resolution (Romans 7:25)

Application: Do you see the conflict that resides within you?  What have you done or will you do to overcome your flesh?
