“The Assurance Of Salvation”
Ephesians 2:1-10; Various Verses
Introduction: The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one’s only hope and the only event in history that guarantees and assures salvation.
Groups of People Here Today:
- Those who are not saved and know they are not saved (no assurance)
- Those who are not saved but think they are saved (false sense of assurance)
- Those who are saved but are uncertain if they are saved (unsure)
- Those who are saved and sure they are saved but believe they can lose their salvation (possibly no assurance)
- Those who know they are saved and know it is eternal (assurance) (1 John 5:13)
Reasons a Person Doubts Their Salvation:
- Sin
Sin Brings Misery to a Follower of Jesus (Psalm 51:1-3)
Sin Brings Isolation to a Follower of Jesus (Psalm 51:4,10-12) - Over-Emphasis on Emotions & Feelings (Hebrews 11:1-3, 6)
- Failure to Take God at His Word (Romans 8:31-39)
- One Word: Satan (Revelation 12:10)
- False Teaching
Wrong View Of Salvation (Ephesians 2:1-3)
Definition of Salvation: It is the deliverance from the bondage of sin and eternal death and the possession of eternal life.
Wrong View Of The Cross (Ephesians 2:4-7)
Wrong View Of Eternal Security (Ephesians 2:8-10)
Definition of Eternal Security: It is that work of Jesus which guarantees God’s Gift of salvation once received is possessed forever and cannot be lost.
Evidence of Salvation:
- Life-changing Belief in the Gospel
- Longing for the Things of God
- Conviction of Sin
- Discipline by God
Application: Have you received the salvation that Jesus provides?
