“The Fulfilled Promises of the Resurrection”
1 Corinthians 15:1-58
Introduction: 1 Corinthians 15 is the clearest chapter in the Bible on the subject of the resurrection of Jesus. It reveals the promises that are kept and fulfilled by God through the His Son.
"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise (NIV--crush) your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (Genesis 3:15)
“I am the resurrection, and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11:25-26a)
The Proof of the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
The Skepticism of the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:12-19)
The Victory of the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-28)
The Doubters of the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:29-38)
The Promises of the Resurrection
-
A Change In Dimension (1 Corinthians 15:39-41)
--from a terrestrial body--fleshly—present reality
--to a celestial body--glorified—future reality (John 6:15-21)
-
A Change In Destiny (1 Corinthians 15:42)
--from a body destine for the grave
--to a body destine for glory (Philippians 1:23)
-
A Change In Dress (1 Corinthians 15:43a)
--from a dress of dishonor
--to a dress of honor
-
A Change In Disposition (1 Corinthians 15:43b)
--from a body of weakness
--to a body of power
-
A Change In Dynamics (1 Corinthians 15:44-46)
--from a body sown--natural
--to a body raised--spiritual (Colossians 1:18)
-
A Change In Durability (1 Corinthians 15:47-53)
--from a body of mortality
--to a body of immortality (1 John 3:3)
-
A Change In Defeat (1 Corinthians 15:54-57)
--from a body of defeat
--to a body of victory
Application: Do you realize that the promise of Easter is victory? Jesus has won the victory over sin, death and even our flesh through His death, burial, and resurrection. And now we are called to live in the reality of what God has provided through His Son’s resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
