SUMMER IN THE PSALMS
Live Well
Psalm 90

Introduction:  God’s people should evaluate their activities wisely and invest their days in doing what honors God.

We are on a Journey and God is Our Home (Psalm 90:1-2)

No matter where Moses traveled, God was always his home. We could say he lived in the Lord and knew how to abide in Him. God was his place of strength, comfort, and encouragement and gave him hope for each day’s demands.  (Exodus 33:7,11) (John 15:5-8) (Deuteronomy 33:27a)

We are Always Learning and Life is our School (Psalm 90:3-12)

  • Man is Mortal
  • God is not Affected by Time
  • Man is Limited by Time (Matthew 7:24-27)
  • Life is Brief yet God Judges Sin (II Corinthians 5:21)
    (Psalm 90:12)

We are Believers and the Future is our Friend (Psalm 90:13-17)

  • The Compassion of God (Lamentations 3:22)
  • The Mercy of God (I Peter 5:10)
  • The Might of God (I John 2:17)
  • The Favor of God

Application: Life is brief – so Moses prayed “teach us.” Life is difficult – so Moses prayed “satisfy us.” Life needs purpose – so Moses prayed “establish the work of our hands.”

Psalm 90:12 NIV: Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
