Romans 12:14-16

Introduction: When we begin to follow Jesus, He gives us a Second and Better Nature that empowers us to love Others well. His desire is that this Second Nature would become “Second Nature” for us.

Our Second Nature involves…

Loving with Authenticity & Hating what is Evil (Romans 12:9)

Embracing Others in Honor & Rejecting Passivity (Romans 12:10-11)

Gaining Perspective & Giving Generously (Romans 12:12-13)

Disarming & Equipping

• Disarming Hostility (Romans 12:14, Matthew 5:43-47)
  • The Reach: Loving from Neighbor to Enemy
  • The Reason: Becoming more like our Heavenly Father
  • The Result: Treating Enemies as if they were Friends
    • Bless with your…
      • Head: “I Think Rightly of You”
      • Lips: “I Speak Well of You”
      • Heart: “My Heart Beats for You”

• Equipping Empathy (Romans 12:15)
  • Sympathy is feeling for someone
    • Goal: “A Response will make it better”
  • Empathy is feeling with someone
    • Goal: “A Connection will make it better”

Opposing & Submitting

• Opposing Partiality (Romans 12:16a)
  • Value and Love the way Jesus does: Equally & Individually

• Submitting in Humility (Romans 12:16b)
  • Pride says: I’m better than you, let me share my opinions
  • Humility says: I can learn from you, let me hear your heart

Application: Has loving your Enemies well become “Second Nature” for you? If not, what needs to change? God’s desire and design is to empower you to love your enemies the way He loves them.

I'm A Christian Now Class

Begins: March 6

A 5-week class for kids 1^st - 5^th grade who have made a profession of faith.  We recommend your child complete this class before baptism.  Parents are asked to attend the first class with their child.
