MAJOR MESSAGES FROM THE MINOR PROPHETS
“A Snapshot of a Beautiful, Unsettling Story”
Hosea 1:1-3:3

Introduction: God uses the Minor Prophets to convey Major Messages to His people- not just Then, but even Now.

A Greater Context

• The Private story of a Prophet: Hosea
• The Historical story of a Nation: Israel
• The Personal story of a Sinner: Us
• The Gospel story of a Savior: Jesus

An Unsettling Command (Hosea 1:2)

• God uses Prophets not just to Proclaim the Message, but to Personify the Message.

A Wayward Condition (Hosea 1:3-9)

• God Identifies our Wayward Condition:
  • “Scattered”, “No Mercy”, “Not My People”

A Religious Cover-Up (Hosea 2:13)

• Hypocrisy: Outwardly “Perfect”, but Inwardly Profane

A Beautiful Cost (Hosea 2:14-3:3)

• The Cross isn’t just “The” Cross, it’s “Our” Cross

The Major Message: Redemption (Hosea 1:10-2:1)

• God brought the pain and the wrath so that we would not be Rejected by a Holy God, but Redeemed by a Loving Savior.
• Jesus has given Us a New Identity:
  • “Not My People” becomes “Family”
  • “Scattered” becomes “Gathered”
  • “No Mercy” becomes “Mercy”

A church-wide (kids, students, & adults) week of loving & serving our community. We are staying right in Shelby and working in our own backyard. This gives us an opportunity to love  the people that God has put in our neighborhood.
