Prayer Power
Colossians 1:9-14

Introduction: Prayer is a privilege bought through the blood of Jesus Christ. Prayer is talking to God. Prayer was a vital part of Paul’s life and should be a vital part of our lives.

A Prayer Of Petition (Colossians 1:9-11)

Paul prays that God’s power in us will produce these five character traits:

• A Worthy Walk (Colossians 1:10a) (Philippians 1:27) (Galatians 2:20)
    New Testament Evidences of a Worthy Walk:
      Walk In Good Works (Ephesians 2:10)
      Walk In Humility (Ephesians 4:1-3)
      Walk In Light (Ephesians 5:8)
      Walk In Purity (Romans 13:13)
      Walk In Love (Ephesians 5:2)
      Walk In Wisdom (Ephesians 5:15)
      Walk In Truth (III John 3-4)
• A Fruitful Life (Colossians 1:10b)
• Growth (Colossians 1:10c)
• Strength (Colossians 1:10d) (Acts 1:8)
• Endurance (Colossians 1:11b)

 A Prayer Of Praise to God (Colossians 1:12-14)

 The Prayer of Praise is threefold:

• For Giving Us an Inheritance (Colossians 1:12)
    Heirs of Eternal Life (Titus 3:7)
    Heirs of Grace (I Peter 3:7)
    Heirs of Righteousness (Hebrews 11:7)
• For Delivering Us (Colossians 1:13) (II Corinthians 5:17)
• For Redeeming Us (Colossians 1:14) (Psalm 103:12)

Application:  Rejoice always,  pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:16-18
