THE SUPREMACY OF CHRIST
“Wardrobe Change”
Colossians 3:5-11

Introduction: As followers of Jesus, we should be living in the Reality of who we now are- no longer Dead in Sin, but Alive in Christ.

Our Life has Changed (Colossians 3:1-4)

• In the Past, You were Raised with Christ (Colossians 3:1)
• In the Present, You are Protected by Christ (Colossians 3:3)
• In the Future, You will be Glorified like Christ (Colossians 3:4)

Therefore… Cast Off Grave Clothes (Colossians 3:5-8)

• Perverted Love: from Action to Motive (Colossians 3:5-7)
  • Immorality from Impurity: Immorality doesn’t start in the Bed, it starts in the Mind
  • Impurity from Passion/Evil Desire: Doing Whatever you feel like, Whenever you feel like it
  • Passion/Evil Desire from Covetousness: a Desire for More
  • Covetousness from Idolatry: Elevating Yourself above All
• Personal Hate: from Motive to Action (Colossians 3:8)
  • Anger to Wrath: a chronic Attitude of simmering Resentment with acute Outbursts of boiling Rage
  • Wrath to Malice: a Desire to Harm
  • Malice to Slander: speaking Evil about someone
  • Slander to Obscene Talk: Abusive Speech intended to Hurt

And… Put On Glory Clothes (Colossians 3:9-11)

• Recognize the Peril of Deception (Colossians 3:9)
• Visualize the Progression of Sin (Colossians 3:10)
  • Your Thought can become your Choice
  • Your Choice can become your Habit
  • You Habit can become your Lifestyle
• Actualize the Provision of Christ (Colossians 3:10-11)
