Introduction: God speaks Today through the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself, His Purposes, and His Ways. So if God still speaks today, why don’t we Hear from God?

We do NOT Hear God because of…

Our Sin & Self

• Original Sin (Proverbs 1:28-29, John 9:31)
  • We are Born Eternally Separated from God
• Ongoing Selfishness (Psalm 66:18)
  • We are Tempted to be Relationally Alienated from God
• RESPONSE: Repent (1 John 1:9)

Our Stuff & Schedules (Luke 10:38-42)

• Our Stuff tends to dictate our Schedule
• Our Schedule tends to generate Noise
  • “If the Devil can’t make you Sin, he will make you Busy.”
        - Corrie Ten Boom

• “Hurry is the great Enemy of Spiritual Life in our day, [so] you must ruthlessly eliminate Hurry from your life.”   - Dallas Willard

• RESPONSE: Be Still (Psalm 46:10-11)

God’s Silence & Sovereignty (John 11:1-44)

• God’s Sovereign Answers:
  • If the Request is Wrong… God says, “No”
  • If the Timing is Wrong… God says, “Slow”
  • If You are Wrong… God says, “Grow”
  • If the Request is Right, the Timing is Right, and You are Right… God says “Go”
