Encounter on the Sea of Galilee
Matthew 14:22-33

Introduction: Jesus is available with hands stretched out to save.  A calming voice that says, “Take heart. Have no fear.” 

The Storm That Disrupted the Journey (Matthew 14:22-27)

Seeking solitude with God was always a priority for Jesus.  

Time Alone:
                  Renews & Strengthens Us
                  Gives us Perspective on our Mission
                  Allows us to focus on God’s power within us
                  Aligns our heart on doing His will

Even though we are obedient, we are not immune from the storms of life. (Psalm 18:2, Psalm 34:4, Psalm 89:9, John 16:33, Psalm 61:2, I Peter 5:7,10)

The Passion of Peter to Follow (Matthew 14:28-29)

Peter was able to look past the problem to the powerof Jesus (I John 4:4b)
Peter’s goal was the presence of Christ. 

The Sinking Fear when Faith Wavers (Matthew 14:30-31)

Peter focused on the circumstances rather than on the Savior
Peter focused on fear instead of faith (Psalm 50:15)

The Worship After the Storm (Matthew 14:32-33)

Peter’s obedience and Faith were an example to others 
 “Truly You are the Son of God!” 
 “Come.  It is I”

Application: When Jesus speaks…Dare to obey…Dare to have Faith.  Choose to worship. (Matthew 11:28)
