SURVIVE AND THRIVE
“Instructions For Living”
1 Peter 1:22-2:3

Introduction:  These days are filled with negativity, distrust, and hurt. But God’s Word tells us we can live beyond these realities by living the realities of His instruction.

Living A Life That Can Be Transformed  (Romans 12:2)

Purified through Obedience (1 Peter 1:22a)

Born-again through Redemption (1 Peter 1:23a)

Loving A People That Can Be Family (1 Peter 1:22b)

Sincere Love—without deceit (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Brotherly Love—friendship (Romans 12:10)

Fervent Love—enthusiasticresolute (1 John 4:19)

Learning A WORD That Can Be Trusted

Incorruptible Word (1 Peter 1:23b) (Proverbs 30:5)

Invincible Word (1 Peter 1:23c-25) (Luke 21:33) (Hebrews 4:12a)

Leaving An Attitude That Can Be Destructive (1 Peter 2:1)

“Malice”—inflicting pain & harm with ill intent

“Deceit”—misleading to take advantage

“Hypocrisy”—masking of inward evil

“Envy”—hoping for the downfall of others & advancement of one’s self

“Evil Speaking”—harming one’s reputation

Longing For A Diet That Can Be Nourishing

Produces Growth (1 Peter 2:2) (2 Timothy 3:13-17)

Produces Appetite (1 Peter 2:3) (2 Timothy 4:2-4)

“You’re going to find that there will be times
when people will have no stomach for solid teaching,
but will fill up on spiritual junk food
—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy.
They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages.”
(2 Timothy 4:3-4—Message)

(Colossians 2:8)

Application: Do you have an appetite for the dysfunction of the world or the nourishment of God’s love and truth?
