SURVIVE AND THRIVE
“A Follower’s Testimony”
1 Peter 2:11-25
Introduction: Peter begins this passage by reminding us that we are not of this world and that we should not be corrupted by it. So, in a world marked with sin against God and hostility against believers, how should we as followers of Jesus live?
The Supernatural (Sanctified) War
The Motivation for this War (1 Peter 2:11)
--to remain set apart
The Mission of this War (1 Peter 2:12)
--to glorify God
The Supernatural (Sanctified) Witness
The Object of this Witness (1 Peter 2:13-14)
--the Lord
The Objective of this Witness (1 Peter 2:15-17)
--to bring light (Luke 9:23)
The Supernatural (Sanctified) Will
The Reason for Obeying His Will (1 Peter 2:18-19)
--to see God work (Luke 23:39-43) (Luke 23:46-47)
The Reward for Obeying His Will (1 Peter 2:20)
--it pleases God
The Supernatural (Sanctified) Walk
The Path of the Walk (1 Peter 2:21-23)
--to follow His example
The Provision of the Walk (1 Peter 2:24-25)
--to walk victoriously
Application: Is this supernatural/sanctified reality evident in your life? What is the condition of your testimony before others? Does it get the attention of others with the possibility of introducing them to Jesus?
