“Marriage 101"
Ephesians 5:22-33

Introduction: Marriage should resemble the relationship between Christ and the Church.  God’s plan for marriage is that two become one.  (Matthew 19:6)

God’s Plan for Marriage:

Play your position – (Ephesians 5:22-25)

• o Wives Submitting (Ephesians 5:22-24)
• o Husbands Loving (Ephesains 5:23-24)(I Peter 3:7)

Love like Jesus loves you  – (Ephesains 5:25-31)

• Jesus’ Love
  John 3:16 – Sacrificial
     John 13:1 – Intentional
     Romans 5:8 – Unconditional
     Romans 8:39 – Unending
     Philippians 2:6-7 - Unselfish
• Purifying Love (26-27)
• o Caring Love (28-30)
• o Enduring Love (31) (I Corinthians 13:4-8a) 

To Need Each Other (Ephesians 5:32-33)

• The Wife Needs: To be loved
  She desires…
  - To have a spiritual leader
  - To be cherished
  - To have meaningful conversation
  - To have a protector and a provider
  
  
• The Husband Needs: To be respected
  He feels respected…
  - Through marital intimacy
  - Home as a retreat & place of refuge (Proverbs 18:22)
  - When as a wife you take care of yourself
  - A lifelong companion and friend (Proverbs 31:10-12)

Application: Marriage is a covenant based upon trust, something that cannot be broken. Never lose this perspective.

Student Ministry Update

Last Sunday Andrew Renfroe shared his decision to resign as Student Pastor.  His last day will be August 10, then Christian Harmon our Creative Arts Pastor who previously served as our Student Pastor from 2017-2023 will step in as Interim Student Pastor.

Good News Club

Thursdays – 3:00pm – Oct-April
Elizabeth Elementary School 

Join the Good News Club, a powerful ministry bringing the Gospel to kids in public schools. We’re looking for men & women with a heart for children (grades 3–5) to help lead, love, & share Jesus.

Wednesday Summer Connect Group Schedule

Bryan will to lead the mid-week Bible Study in the Legacy Suite each week throughout the Summer.  If no other Connect Groups are meeting, there will be no childcare.
