Acts 17:15-34

We Leverage Our Life to Engage Our City

Series Introduction: The mission of God is NOT something we do for Jesus.  The mission of God is who Jesus is as He lives through us.  We can either define our lives by our limits or we can leverage our lives to magnify His glory and advance His mission. (Acts 9:20) (John 1:40-42)

Paul’s desire when he arrived in Athens was to share the Good News with the people.  He arrived in this great city not as a sight seer -- but as a soul seeker. (Proverbs 11:30)

Paul Prioritized People (Acts 17:15-16)

• People need us to practice “We > Me” (Matthew 9:35-39) (Luke 19:41)
• People need us to be Spirit filled (Ephesians 4:30) (Acts 20:23-24)

Paul Was Proactive in Reaching the Lost (Acts 17:17-20)

• Paul saw the need and spoke up
• Paul didn’t give up (II Timothy 4:5) (Galatians 6:9-10)
• Paul took His Opportunity (Acts 3:19) (Ephesians 5:15)

Paul Knew the Power in the Message (Acts 17:33-34)

• Jesus Saves
• Salvation Changes us (Acts 20:26-27)
• Jesus is Alive (Hebrews 13:8) (Matthew 5:16) (I Peter 3:15)

Application: Paul’s approach was effective because:  He was all about the people.  He was proactive in his calling.  He believed in the power of the Gospel.  Now that we Know the Love of God, we must Show that Love in our current relationships and to others as we Engage our City. (Mark 16:15)
