“His Departure, Our Advantage”
John 16:5-15 

Introduction: John isn’t writing a Biography for Information, he’s writing an Invitation for Transformation- that you may Believeand that you may have Life. In John 16, the disciples are consumed with what they are Losing, but Jesus shows them Who they are Gaining.

The Holy Spirit…

Comforts the People of God (John 16:5-7)
- He perpetuates the Presence of Jesus
   o Jesus Beside them becomes the Spirit Within them
- He provides the Power of Jesus 

Convicts the World of Guilt (John 16:8-11)
- He exposes man’s Sin: Our true Problem
- He vindicates Christ’s Righteousness: Jesus’ true Identity
- He announces coming Judgment: Satan’s true Destiny

Continues the Ministry of Jesus (John 16:12-15)
- He reveals God’s Truth
   o He Inspired the Writing of Scripture Then
   o He Illuminates the Reading Scripture Now
- He declares God’s Plan
   o He Directs us in alignment with His Word: Not a Map of every detail, but Direction for every step
   o He Prepares us for what comes next: Not a Prediction of every outcome, but Wisdom for faithful obedience
- He exalts God’s Son: Where the Spirit is Working, Jesus is Magnified

Application: If you are born again, the Holy Spirit lives within you and is actively comforting, convicting, and continuing the ministry of Jesus. Do you Recognize His presence, Respond to His leading, and Yield to His work in you and through you?
