He was a young guy (only 24!) when he began his ministry at Pleasant City Church in 1989, while pursuing his Bachelor's degree at Gardner-Webb University. He served as the Student Pastor until 1995, at which time he became the Associate Pastor. He obtained a Masters of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Theological Seminary in 1997, and in 1999 became the Lead Pastor. Bryan married his high school sweetheart, Tina who serves with him in the ministry at PCC. They have two children and four glorious grandsons. Their son, Jonathan serves as one of the Associate Pastors at PCC, and is married to Crystal.  They also have a Daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law, Matt who live and worship in Charlotte. Bryan believes his calling in ministry is to equip and encourage others to passionately live the Truths found in God's Word.

Gary Staff Page

Gary joined the ministry team of Pleasant City Church in September 2006. Although he is an Ohio native he now calls Shelby his home. At the age of 16, Gary realized his need for Jesus and through faith accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. The Lord led him to Summit University in Clarks Summit, PA where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Bible. The Lord called Gary into fulltime pastoral ministry in 1989. Gary and his wife Heidi have three married children and six grandsons.  Gary’s passion as an Associate Pastor is to see relationships with Christ at such a level that relationships with others grow, and discipleship through “Connect Groups” becomes the heartbeat of Pleasant City Church. Through God’s Word we can learn to love God, “CONNECT” with others, and reach the world.

Christian gave his life to Christ as a junior in High School. Being raised in a Christian family and attending church his entire life, he always had a belief in God but in High School realized his dire need for a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Christian attended UNC Charlotte and graduated with a bachelor’s in Finance thinking he would go into a career in banking but God had other plans. During Christian’s junior year at Charlotte, God used an internship at a community mission to amplify a longing in Christian’s heart to serve God’s people. Four years later, in June of 2017 Christian began serving as the Student Pastor at PCC. Christian is married to his awesome wife, Sara Beth, who also serves as a leader in our student ministry. In January of 2021 Christian and Sara Beth got to experience parenthood for the first time, welcoming their daughter Elise Harmon into the world.

Katie oversees the “Clubhouse Jr” children’s ministry (0-5 yrs), as well as the “PCC MMO” of our church.

Katie Carpenter

Katie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the tender age of 7. She is a rural Pennsylvania native, but has lived in North Carolina most of her teenage and adult life.  She had a passion ignited for young children and the medical field early in life. After growing up with her family fostering and adopting medically fragile and special needs children, she then became a foster parent herself and gained invaluable experience in caring for those in this same realm. She has since adopted 2 children. Katie has served in Preschool Ministry for her previous churches as a teacher, coordinator, and Director.  She comes with a vast background of medical knowledge through working as a paramedic as well as with medically fragile and special needs children. She previously worked as an Administrator and Office Manager for a medical office located in Stanly County, NC.  She lives in Boiling Springs, NC with her husband, Derrick, Math Dept Head and Head Swim Coach at Shelby High School, along with their 10yo daughter and 12yo son. Katie serves as an Assistant Swim Coach at Shelby High School. As a family they enjoy traveling, camping, and are almost finished on their goal of visiting all 50 states! Katie believes learning at the preschool level is best accomplished through play and multi-sensory experiences. She is excited to join our team to further cultivate our little one's curiosity, creativity, and to plant seeds that God created them, loves them, and wants to be their forever friend.
