The Preparation and Call of the Leader - Part 2
June 3, 2018 Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: Follow the Leader
Scripture: Exodus 2:1– 4:17
Introduction: There are times when God has prepared the leader for the task He calls them and the one called does not see it. With God the called are equipped and the equipped are called.
There is no greater character in the Bible who demonstrates this than Moses. This can clearly be seen in the three segments of his life. His first forty years in the house of pharaoh; his second forty years in the wilderness; and his third forty years leading God’s people in the wilderness. The first eighty years were preparation for the call of the last forty years.
1st 40—Moses’ Preparation in the Palace (Acts 7:17-22)
- His Private Birth (Exodus 2:1-2)
- His Privileged Background (Exodus 2:3-10)
- His Providential Burden & Departure (Exodus 2:11-15)
2nd 40—Moses’ Preparation in the Wilderness (Hebrews 11:24-25)
- His Foreign Companion (Exodus 2:16-22)
- His Flaming Call
the cries of the people (Exodus 2:23)
the covenant of God (Exodus 2:24-25)
the calling of Moses (Exodus 3:1-10)
the concerns (excuses) of Moses—I have:
--no ability (Exodus 3:11-12)
--no message (Exodus 3:13-22)
--no authority (Exodus 4:1-4:9)
--no eloquence (Exodus 4:10-12)
--no courage (Exodus 4:13)
the candor of God (Exodus 4:14-17)
Application: What has God prepared and called you to that you may not be seeing? If you know, what are your excuses for not fulfilling it? God takes serious the callings in your life, do you?
