Hope For All

December 22, 2019 Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: A Thrill of Hope

Definition of Biblical Hope: not wishful thinking; but assured, confident, eagerly anticipated expectation; a firm assurance supported by the promises of God’s Word regarding things that are unseen, unclear and/or unknown—including miracles.

Biblical Hope always astonishes because of its close proximity to miracles.

Definition of a Miracle: is an act of God, contrary to the laws of nature, as we understand them. It is an event when God supersedes the natural laws, He established, and intervenes supernaturally. The Christmas story is filled with hope presented to us through miracles.

Miracle #1:  God Came to Earth

Who is Jesus? (Colossians 1:15-16) (John 10:30)

Miracle #2:  God Became a Man

How did Jesus come to earth? (Luke 1:26-38)  (Isaiah 7:14)  (Philippians 2:6-8)

Miracle #3:  God Came to Ordinary People

Who did Jesus come to? (Luke 2:7-9)  (John 1:14)

Miracle #4:  God Came for our Benefit

Why did Jesus come?  (Luke 2:10-11)  (Matthew 1:20-21)  (1 John 4:9-10)

Application: The miracle of Christmas is that God came as the child, Jesus, who was the God-Man who would become the “Thrill of Hope” for those who seek Him and receive Him.
