CHRISTMAS GUEST LIST
Joseph
Matthew 1 & 2; Luke 2

Introduction: Over 2000 years later God is still inviting us into the Christmas Story. Joseph’s invitation was made possible by his obedience—he was a willing participant.

Joseph was:

(Micah 5:2)

Obedient When It Was Embarrassing and Humiliating
The Engagement of Devotion (Matthew 1:18)
The Expression of Devotion (Matthew 1:19)

Obedient When It Was Unimaginable and Inconceivable
The Isolation (Matthew 1:20a)
The Hope (Matthew 1:20b-23)
The Surrender (Matthew 1:24-25)

Obedient When It Was Disturbing and Inconvenient
Travel to Egypt (Matthew 2:13-15)
Travel to Southern Israel (Matthew 2:19-21)
Travel to Northern Israel (Matthew 2:22-23)

Obedient When It Was Difficult and Overwhelming
The Pressures of Frustration (Luke 2:1-5)
The Pressures of Family (Luke 2:6-7)
The Pressures of Finances (Luke 2:22-24)
The Pressures of the Future (Luke 2:33-35)

Conclusion: From Joseph’s life we learn that obedience in the struggle creates a faith in God that is vibrate, sustainable, and usable.

RSVP: As Joseph, have you accepted God’s invitation to join Him this Christmas?
