Wheel Of Fortune

September 22, 2019 Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: Game Changer

Introduction: As believers many of us have unbiblical views and/or use misguided phrases in our attempts to explain the events and circumstances of our blessed lives.

The Inappropriate Descriptions of a Blessed Life

  • Fortune--position in life as determined by luck, fate, or prosperity
  • Luck--combination of circumstances or events operating by chance to bring good or ill to a person

The Appropriate Description of a Blessed Life

  • Blessed--those who are consecrated, holy, sanctified, or divinely favored
  • Sovereignty--One (God) who has sovereign power or authority over all

The Overwhelming Evidence of a Blessed Life (Matthew 5:3-10)

The Carnal Obstacles to a Blessed Life

  • Rebellion   (Ezekiel 20:13a)
  • Complaining   (Philippians 2:14)
  • Worry   (Philippians 4:6)
  • Lack of Trust   (Psalm 18:1-2)
  • Self-pity   (Psalm 69:20)

The Suitable Response to a Blessed Life

  • Being thankful is a decision we must make in every situation of life   (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
  • Being thankful brings the presence of God in our lives   (Philippians 4:7)
  • Being thankful changes our perspective   (Genesis 42:36)  (Genesis 50:19-21)

Game Changer: The events or circumstances of our lives are not based on chance, luck, or fortune but on the sovereignty of God—meaning He is the source of blessings that come into our lives.   (Romans 8:28-30)   (Jeremiah 29:11)
