Worship Songs

There’s Nothing That Our God Can’t Do

Oh, just one word, You calm the storm that surrounds me
Just one word, the darkness has to retreat
Oh, just one touch, I feel the presence of heaven
Just one touch, my eyes were opened to see
My heart can't help but believe

There's nothing that our God can't do
There's not a mountain that He can't move
Oh, praise the name that makes a way
There's nothing that our God can't do

And just one word, You heal what's broken inside me
And just one word and You revive every dream
Just one touch, I feel the power of heaven
And just one touch, my eyes were opened to see
My heart can't help but believe

There's nothing that our God can't do
There's not a mountain that He can't move
Oh, praise the name that makes a way
There's nothing that our God can't do
Oh I know there's nothing that our God can't do
There's not a prison wall He can't break through
Oh, praise the name that makes a way
There's nothing that our God can't do

And I will believe for greater things
There's no power like the power of Jesus
Let faith arise, let all agree
There's no power like the power of Jesus
There's nothing, there's nothing that Jesus can't do

There's nothing that our God can't do
There's not a prison wall He can't break through
Oh, praise the name that makes a way
There's nothing that our God can't do

Good Grace

People
Come together
Strange as neighbors
Our blood is one
Children
Of generations
Of every nation
Of kingdom come

Don't let your heart be troubled
Hold your head up high
Don't fear no evil
Fix your eyes on this one truth
God is madly in love with you
Take courage
Hold on
Be strong
Remember where our help comes from

Jesus
Our redemption
Our salvation
Is in His blood
Jesus
Light of heaven
Friend forever
His kingdom come

Swing wide
All you heavens
Let the praise go up
As the walls come down
All creation
Everything with breath
Repeat the sound
All His children
Clean hands
Pure hearts
Good grace
Good God
His Name is Jesus

See A Victory

The weapon may be formed, but it won't prosper
When the darkness falls, it won't prevail
'Cause the God I serve knows only how to triumph
My God will never fail
Oh, my God will never fail

I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord

There's power in the mighty name of Jesus
Every war He wages He will win
I'm not backing down from any giant
'Cause I know how this story ends
Yes, I know how this story ends

I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord

You take what the enemy meant for evil
And You turn it for good
You turn it for good

I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord

You take what the enemy meant for evil
And You turn it for good
You turn it for good

ESSENTIAL FRUIT NONESSENTIAL FRUSTRATION
“Rotten Apples to Cherry On Top—Self-control”
Galatians 5:22-23; Other Passages

Series Introduction: The Fruit of the Spirit is a picture of spiritual qualities that are reflected in the personality and relationships of the believer. The Biblical goal for every believer is for the spiritual fruit to ripen in their lives.

The Process of Fruit-Bearing:

  • Planting—the Word of God
  • Cultivating—nourishing & pruning
  • Producing—for consumption & propagation

Introduction: Without self-control a person faces ruin.  A ruined life ruins other lives. A lack of self-control leads to the worst kinds of dysfunction.

Definitions of Self-Control:

1)  It is saying no to all that God forbids and yes to all that He ordains.

2)  It is bringing one’s desires, appetites, passions, and impulses under the authority of God’s Word, surrendered to the control of the Holy Spirit and accountable to another of like faith.

3)  It is also the discipline to abide in that place.

How Self-Control is Contrasted

  • Works of The Flesh—out of control (Galatians 5:19-21) (Proverbs 25:28)

  • Works of The Spirit—in control (Galatians 5:22-23) (2 Peter 1:5-11)

How Self-Control is Presented

  • Not Indulging Oneself But Denying Oneself (Matthew 16:24)

  • Not Self-Effort But Surrender (Colossians 2:13, Colossians 2:20-3:3) (Zechariah 4:6)

How Self-Control is Used

To Overcome:
   --thoughts of negativity, envy, worry
   --emotions of anger, jealousy, hatred
--desires of gluttony, greed, sexual immorality

  • Recognize—the deception

            Speaking of God’s truth (2 Peter 3:16b)

  • Realize—the truth & the consequences  (Romans 1:18)

  • Repent—asking for forgiveness from God (Acts 3:19) (Ephesians 1:7)

  • Renounce It—to the enemy, the world & the flesh (2 Corinthians 4:2)

  • Rely—on the Holy Spirit  (John 14:26)

How Self-Control is Illustrated  (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Three Stages of Self-Control:

  • Training—Discipleship (1 Corinthians 9:25)

  • Competing—Living Intentionally (1 Corinthians 9:26)

  • Winning—Staying the Course (1 Corinthians 9:27)  (2 Timothy 4:7)

“Rotten Apples to Cherry On Top—Self-control”

Application:  The very concept of “self-control” implies a battle between a divided “self”.  –John Piper

(Galatians 5:24-25)

Are you walking in the Spirit?  If so, it will be evident your life will produce fruit.
