FINANCIAL PROVISION
Philippians 4:10-19 

Introduction: The economy of God seems to be summarized in Philippians 4:19. This verse is one of the greatest promises in the entire Bible. It seems to encompass all other promises.

As usual, Paul gives practical application in verses 10-18 then gives the culminating provision of the application in verse 19. “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

The Precedent:  Compassion (Philippians 4:10)

The Prerequisite:  Contentment

Paul’s Satisfaction (Philippians 4:11-12)
Christ’s Strength (Philippians 4:13)

The Principle:  Give

“Give away your life;
and you will find life given back,
but not merely given back
—given back with bonus and blessing.
Giving, not getting, is the way.
Generosity begets generosity.”   
(Luke 6:38—The Message)

The Value of Generosity:

Our Encouragement to Others (Philippians 4:14-16)
--it expands our ministry
--it makes us more like Christ

Our Investment in the future (Philippians 4:17) (1 Timothy 6:18-19)
Our Sacrifice to God (Philippians 4:18)

The Provision: Receive (Philippians 4:19)

The Source:  "And my God will ... "
The Scope:  "...will meet all your needs..."

2 Categories Not Included:
--the consequences of your laziness
--the coverage of all your wants

The Supply:  "…according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

Application: In God’s Word, the obedience to the principle precedes the outpouring of the provision. You cannot claim verse 19 unless you are conforming to verses 14-18.
