SUIT UP!
Nice Kicks—The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
Ephesians 6:15; Other Passages in Ephesians

Introduction: There are two main ideas as it relates to “the shoes of the gospel of peace.” First is the idea of taking the gospel to those who need the gospel of peace; second is the idea of living daily in what the gospel of peace has provided us as follower of Jesus.

Definitions: Peace—the opposite of war, not living in conflict with others or oneself. Gospel—the saving truth of what Jesus provides through His death, burial, and resurrection.

Standing in the Place of the Peace of the Gospel

Stand in God’s provision of forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7)
Stand in God’s provision of inheritance (Ephesians 1:11)
Stand in God’s provision of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13)
Stand in God’s provision of grace (Ephesians 2:8)
Stand in God’s provision of truth (Ephesians 4:14)

Walking in the Shoes of the Steadfastness of the Gospel

Walk in good works (Ephesians 2:10)
Walk worthy of your calling (Ephesians 4:1-3)
Walk differently than the world (Ephesians 4:17)
Walk in love (Ephesians 5:2)
Walk in the light (Ephesians 5:8)
Walk carefully (Ephesians 5:15-16)

“Casting all your cares [all your anxieties, worries, and concerns, once and for all] on Him,

for He cares about you
[with deepest affection, and watches over you].
Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined],
be alert and cautious at all times.

That enemy of yours, the devil,
prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry],
seeking someone to devour.

But resist him, be firm in your faith
[against his attack—rooted, established, immovable],
knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced
by your brothers and sisters throughout the world.
[You do not suffer alone.]”
(1 Peter 5:7-9—Amplified)

“Peace I leave with you;
My [perfect] peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.

Do not let your heart be troubled,
nor let it be afraid.

[Let My perfect peace calm you
in every circumstance
and give you courage and strength
for every challenge.]”
(John 14:27—Amplified Bible)

Conclusion: If we desire peace in our lives, it will be a work that is supernatural. True peace in our daily walk can only be realized in the gospel and living in what it provides.

Application: Are you living within a supernatural peace provided by the gospel?

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
