Choose Joy In Unity
Philippians 2:1-4 

Series Introduction: Joy is the unshakable assurance that God is in control of all the details of our lives, the confidence that ultimately, we can trust God in everything that comes into our lives, and the determined purpose to praise Him in all things.

Introduction: We as a church family must be in “koinonia”—which is experiencing the fullest possible partnership and fellowship with God and each other. This requires unity in the vision God has given us and what we believe about Him.

1-4 “If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ,
if His love has made any difference in your life,
if being in a community of the Spirit
means anything to you,
if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor:

agree with each other,
love each other,
be deep-spirited friends.  

Don’t push your way to the front;
don’t sweet-talk your way to the top.  
Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead.  

Don’t be obsessed
with getting your own advantage.
Forget yourselves long enoughto help others.”

How To Develop a Unifying Spirit?
--allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart
--take action to change your perspective moving from being me-centered to God-centered and others-centered
--follow Jesus’ example (Philippians 2:5-8)
--find ways to serve and encourage others
--claim responsibilities, not rights
--develop a spirit that is gracious, not critical
