Choose Joy in Teamwork
Philippians 2:19-30 

Series Introduction: Joy is the unshakable assurance that God is in control of all the details of our lives, the confidence that ultimately, we can trust God in everything that comes into our lives, and the determined purpose to praise Him in all things.

Introduction: Joy comes when teamwork takes place in a local church. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)

Consider these two partners who invested together with Paul in the lives of the people in Philippi:

The Example of Timothy (Philippians 2:19-24) 

• Timothy’s Compassion (Philippians 2:20-21) (Matthew 20:28) (Philippians 2:3)
  When we show the compassion of Christ, we get our hands dirty and get involved in the lives and interests of other people.
• Timothy’s Companionship (Philippians 2:22-24)
• The companions God gives us are to be free to correct, to encourage, and we should listen. 

The Example of Epaphroditus (Philippians 2:25-30)

• The Type of Man He Was (Philippians 2:25)
• The Type of Love He Displayed (Philippians 2:26) (Philippians 2:8)
• The Type of Help He Needed (Philippians 2:27) (I Thessalonians 4:13) (Lamentations 3:22) (Psalm 103:1-5)
• The Type of Welcome He Deserved (Philippians 2:28-30) (Romans 12:10) (Ephesians 6:2) (Luke 14:12-14)  

Application: Timothy and Epaphroditus are examples of men who put on Jesus. Their acts of kindness and service impacted people and advanced the Gospel. 

Am I partnering with others?  Am I loving well? Am I showing compassion?
