JOY RIDE
Choose Joy in Christ
Philippians 3:1-11

Series Introduction: Joy is the unshakable assurance that God is in control of all the details of our lives, the confidence that ultimately, we can Trust God in everything that comes into our lives, and the determined purpose to Praise Him in all things.

A Strong Encouragement of Joy (Philippians 3:1)

• Happiness is based on Happenings: External & Temporal
• Joy is based on Jesus: Internal & Eternal

A Subtle Enemy of Joy (Philippians 3:2-6)

• The LIE: Your standing with God is based on…
  • Your Position: Rituals, Race, Rank
  • Your Performance: Morality, Sincerity, Purity
• The RESULT:
  • Self-Righteousness: Positions and Performances leave a desire for “more” that is never Satisfied.
  • Self-Hate: A Lack of Positions and Performances lead to the Hopelessness of “never measuring”

A Simple Equation of Joy (Philippians 3:7-11)

• Everything – Jesus = Nothing
• Nothing + Jesus = Everything

Application: Joy is NOT found in Your Position or Your Performance. Joy is found in Christ’s Presence. Are you standing on your Position and Performance, or are you standing in His Presence?
